PURPOSE:To obtain a recording device which does not take more time than necessary until data begins to be recorded by outputting a signal 'recording start possible' to a main control means in accordance with the status of a recording means and at different timing using a recording control means after the detection of a recording medium by a detection means upon its arrival. CONSTITUTION:A recording sheet 12 loaded on a recording sheet cassette 50 is picked up by a sheet feed roller 51 and a separation claw 52, then is transported by a transport roller 5 and is sent into a recording unit to be detected by a recording sheet sensor 23. On the recording unit, a recording head 21 shuttles back and forth in the vertical direction with a sheet surface to conduct a main scan for recording. The recording sheet 12 is transported over some distance in a recording device, and is discharged onto a discharged sheet stacker 53 by a sheet discharge roller 9 and loaded there. On the shaft of the sheet discharge roller, a font sensor 13 is arranged, and the depletion of ink in the recording head and a recording sheet jam near the sheet discharge roller are detected by the sensor. |
