PRODUCTION OF LYCOPENE OIL

PURPOSE:To extract lycopene useful as a coloring matter for foods, etc., by dehydrating a treated material of a lycopene-containing vegetable with ethyl alcohol and extracting the dehydrated material with supercritical carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A treated material (crushed or ground material) of a lycopene- containing vegetable [red tomato or KINTOKI carrot (a kind of Daucus carota)] is dehydrated with finally >=90% ethyl alcohol and extracted. The extract is dissolved in a vegetable oil and recovered in a high concentration.
