PURPOSE:To obtain high motive power performance by securing an exhaust passage having a sufficient cross-sectional area. CONSTITUTION:In a marine propulsion device 1 which has a pair of front and rear vertical bevel gears 12 and 14 to mesh with a horizontal bevel gear 22 fixed to an end part of an input shaft 20 and propellers 2 and 3 fixed to rear end parts of an inner shaft 5 and an outer shaft 6 and drives them in rotation mutually in the inverse direction at forward movement time, the front side propeller 2 is fixed to the outer shaft 6, and a first slider 15 to rotate the outer shaft 6 reciprocally is arranged inside. A second slider 16 to rotate the inner shaft 5 in one direction by engaging with an engaging part formed on the front side of the front side bevel gear 12 so as to be locked and released, is arranged in front, and a shift rod 21 extending in parallel to the front of the input shaft 20 is connected to the slider 16, and the sliders 15 and 16 are integrally slidably connected to each other in the shaft direction of the inner and outer shafts 5 and 6. |
