Car headlamps

A car lamp has a single light generator (16) with light distributors (20, 21) connected by optic fibres (18). Each distributor has a lens. The relative coordination between the end of a fibre and a lens can be changed to give a different horizontal pattern of emitted light. The adjustment occurs in conjunction with the steering system, so that the maximum intensity is in the travel direction. There is one particular arrangement of fibre relative to distributor for straight-ahead driving and another for when the steering wheel is turned. The adjustment is continuous while the steering wheel is turned. The headlamps can be moved independently depending on whether the curve is left hand or right hand.
