For a quick, precise surgical procedure for fusion of vertebrae (17, 18) there is proposed an implantation system in which the operating instruments such as drill, chisel, bone cutter and implant insertion tool interact with an auxiliary device which permits accurate and quick attachment of the respective tool. The auxiliary device may be an elongated guide instrument which consists of guide rails (11, 12) or a guide cylinder and possesses a spreading device (114-116). A spacer which is inserted in the gap after spreading of the affected vertebrae can also be designed as an auxiliary device. <IMAGE> |
