The invention pertains to a floating ring seal for sealing a shaft that runs through a housing, with a protective shaft cover (1) to which is attached a counter-ring (2), with a floating ring (3) which can be sealingly joined to the housing by a holding fixture (4) and with a spring (6) to press the floating ring (3) against the counter-ring (2). A simple assembly is achieved in that a device is provided to support the spring (6) when the floating ring seal is disassembled; which device pretensions the spring component (6) and presses the sliding ring (3) against the counter-ring (2). |
