METAL OXIDE BASED RESISTOR, POWER RESISTOR, AND POWER BREAKER

PURPOSE:To obtain a metal oxide based resistor which undergoes a small change of resistance value with time and can realize an expected resistance value, by forming specified carbon particles on the grain boundary of metal oxide particles. CONSTITUTION:A mixed powder is formed by adding and mixing carbon precursor composed of organic compound and solvent to metal oxide powder, and drying them. The mixed powder is molded, and then heated and crystallized in a non-oxidizing gas. Thus a crystal body 12 wherein 0.05-3wt.% carbon particles whose average grain diameter is 1mum or smaller are formed on the grain boundary of self-sintered metal oxide particles is manufactured. A metal oxide based resistor 11 is obtained by forming an electrode 13 and an insulating layer 14. In a sintered body 12 having a dense structure, carbon particles are uniformly dispersed, so that oxidation of carbon particles is restrained even at a high temperature, and the change of resistance value with time is reduced. A resistor 11 having an expected resistance value can be realized.
