<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new compound, a 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D- ribofuranoside derivative, to be used for fluoronucleosides useful as antiviral agents, antineoplastic agents, etc., or for intermediates to synthesize such nucleosides. CONSTITUTION:A new 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-ribofuranoside derivative of formula I (R is a residue of purine-based nuclenic acid base, hydroxyl, an alkoxyl or a halogen except F; R<1> and R<2> are H, a protecting group; in the case R is the base residue, R is bound to the beta-site) to be used for fluoronucleosides useful as antiviral agents or antineoplastic agents or for intermediates to synthesize such nucleosides, (e.g. methyl 2-O-benzyl-3-deoxy-3-fluoro-beta-D-ribofuranoside). This derivative of formula I can be obtained by fluorinating a furanoside derivative of formula II (R<3> is an alkoxyl or a halogen except F; R<4> and R<5> are protecting groups; Y is H or an eliminable group) followed by, as necessary, reaction of a purine-based nucleic acid base.</p> |
