The present invention provides compounds of formula (I) wherein A, R1, R2, R3 and Z are defined in the description. The compounds of formula (I) are testosterone 5 alpha -reductase inhibitors and are therapeutically useful in the treatment of e.g., benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatic and breast cancers, seborrhoea, female hirsutism and male pattern baldness.
