Melt-joined tape cassette

The tape cassette has an upper and a lower half (10, 20). These form one casing when joined together by melt joint sections (90, 80) with melt joint ribs (105, 106). At least one of the melt joint sections is made up of a concave and a convex section which mesh with one another. The concave section has two part sections of different depth (90a, 90b), and the convex section has two part sections of different height (80a, 80b). At least one of the concave and convex sections has a hole (97, 87) in the central region of the melt joint rib. The hole collects any debris from the melt joint and prevents misalignment of the joint. The mould for the cassette is designed so that screw fixings or melt joints can be inserted with minimal retooling.
