<p>Metric calculating means calculates a first metric of a transmitted symbol sequence estimated by an adaptive equalizer. Then it calculates a second metric of a symbol sequence in which the polarity of a symbol in a position where the soft judgment value is to be determined in the transmitted symbol sequence is inverted. A subtraction unit (9) subtracts the second metric from the first metric. Thereafter, a multiplication unit (10) multiplies the result of the subtraction by the symbol in the position where the soft judgment value is to be determined in the transmitted symbol sequence, thus outputting the soft judgment value.</p> |
