The tensioning device is for an anchor or rock bolt. It incorporates a threaded bolt (1) near the outer end of the anchor, accommodating a nut and washer (4) for applying tension. The inner end of the threaded bolt is welded (3) to two or more ribbed concrete reinforcing rods extending toward the blind end of a bore in the rock. The space round the rods is filled with hard-setting material eg. cement or concrete, after which the nut may be tightened.
