X-ray tube with improved heat exchange

X-ray tube with a glow thread 26 that is part of a cathode system 4 with a cylindrical external housing 24 and a focussing electrode 22 within this external housing 24. The heat produced by the glow thread 26 heats the focussing electrode 22 which can consequently be heated to an unacceptably high temperature. The solution to this problem is in applying a close, thermally good conductive connection between the focussing electrode 22 and the external housing 24, which results in obtaining a good heat exchange through the external housing 24.
