A maraging steel has the following percentage composition:- <TABS:1089690/C6-C7/1> The Mo may be replaced by an equal atomic percentage of W up to a maximum of 8% W. Ingots of the steel may be homogenized at 1200-1260 DEG C. and hot worked at 760-1260 DEG C. Martensitic transformation takes place on cooling from the hot working range and ageing is effected at 400-595 DEG C. for 0.1-100 hours. |
