A projectile body (1) is made of a plastics foam with open cells. The projectile body is covered with an elastomer coating (2). The open cells of the projectile contain a charge. Possible charges: a liquid such as water mixed with acrylamide or an acrylate polymer solved in an aliphatic carbon; a target marking dye; a pepper gas; a liquid mixed with a metal powder. Use as an ammunition for riot control or for destructions of ammunition, explosives or booby traps or terrorist bombs. A breakdown gun has two barrels (12, 14), a battery (11) and an electric firing mechanism with a rotary switch (28). The gun barrel (32) has a choke part (50). The gun is of the recoilless type with an annular chamber (103) located concentrically around the cartridge chamber (24). Said annular chamber (103) contains an inert countermass (108) pushed by a piston (109) in the opposite direction of the projectile.
