PURPOSE:To realize the efficient manufacturing of a self-supporting type bag, in which no stress concentrating part develops and which is excellent in resistance to dropping shock or the like and also in self-supporting properties by a method wherein a specified bottom forming sheet having unfolding surfaces is welded to the mouth part of a tubular bag body. CONSTITUTION:In at least one mouth part between the mouth parts at both the ends of a bag body 10, a bottom forming sheet 30 is inserted under the condition that the folds 31' and 31' of the bottom forming sheet 30 are lain in line with the folds 23 and 23 of the bag body 10. Next, the peripheral edge of the mouth part of the bag body 10 and the bottom forming sheet 30 are welded together by pressing hot plates so as to weld the peripheral edge of the mouth part of the bag body 10 and the unfolding surfaces of the bottom forming sheet together. After turning a self-supporting bag produced as mentioned above inside out and then expanding the interior of the bag, contents are held in the self-supporting bag.
