Numerous cathodes (40) are located on the rear plate (20) in a vertical stripe pattern. Between the cathodes are located numerous charged particle electrodes (50). Between the cathodes and charged particle electrodes is provided a dielectric layer (60), leaving out a free space opposite a discharge chamber. On the dielectric layer is formed in a grid pattern a boundary layer (70) to provide the discharge cell. Pref. a sputter boundary layer is also provided, contg. a part of the free cathodes opposite the discharge chamber. The layer is located on the dielectric layer.
