PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording and reproducing device corresponding to a multi-medium by loading a compression and decoding algorithm to a programmable circuit together with input information and utilizing the loaded information in the process of coding and decoding. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal and an audio signal are digitized and coded by a picture signal coding circuit 12 and an audio signal coding circuit 14 conducting coding processing by command information of algorithm loaders 11, 13 given by coding algorithm information in a signal group coding circuit 10. Coded picture information, coded audio information, character information, control information, coded algorithm information and decoded algorithm information are respectively received by buffer memories 16-21 in a coding signal block processing circuit 15, and a block processing control circuit 22 converts the information into a block processing signal. Thus, even when the information quantity of an input signal is changed, flexible and efficient coding and decoding are attained depending on the input information and the magnetic recording and reproducing device compatible with multi-medium is realized. |
