Chlorinated polymers are separated from solutions in carbon tetrachloride by a method which comprises feeding the solution into an agitated mixture of 1 part of carbon tetrachloride and 0.65 to 3 parts of methanol by volume while adding methanol so as to maintain the volume ratio within the same limits. The resulting slurry may be fed to an agitated mixture of carbon tetrachloride and methanol containing a higher proportion of methanol than the first mixture and having a composition lying in the range 1 part of carbon tetrachloride and 2 to 4 parts of methanol by volume, while adding methanol so as to maintain the volume ratio within the same range. Specified polymers are chlorinated natural rubber, polyisoprene, polyethylene, polypropylene and ethylene/propylene copolymers and terpolymers. The method may be effected at - 20 DEG to + 25 DEG C. |
