Electric powered road vehicle

An electric vehicle has a battery, electric motor and a battery charger. The battery cells are grouped together and charged one group after another. There is a control unit which ensures that the groups are connected to the charger in a fixed order . During the charging of each group, the charging current is evaluated and should there be a premature end to the charging process, the different charging conditions are compensated for in the next charging process. The beginning of the charging process can be delayed in accordance to the size of the preceding discharge, with more delay for a greater preceding discharge.
