PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of the drying-prevention property and to enhance the reliability in a standing condition by a constitution wherein a part of or all of a rib of a cap of a capping device that is in contact with a face of an ink jet record head is made multiplied. CONSTITUTION:A cap 20 comprises doubled ribs 21 that have a function like a sucker. The ribs 21 are deformed by being pressed against a face by an elastic force so that a part of an air between ribs 21 is discharged therefrom. When the cap is pulled by a force of vibration or the like, a gap between the ribs has a negative pressure so that it acts as a resistance force against the pulling. In the case where an outer pressure against the cap 20 becomes zero when the pressing force of the cap 20 is removed by the vibration, the pressure from the outside always acts on the cap 20 caused by the negative pressure between the ribs, thereby obtaining a resistance force that is greater than that of a conventional cap against the shift in the traverse direction. Even when the cap 20 is shifted in the traverse direction, a leakage of the air is prevented by means of the inner rib. |
