PURPOSE:To prevent thermal spalling of magnesia-carbon-based refractories, occurrence of structural spalling due to impregnation with slag and a damage to the refractories caused thereby, e.g. cracking. CONSTITUTION:This is low-carbon magnesia-carbon-based refractories containing 1 to 25wt.% carbonaceous material, 0.2 to 20wt.% calcareous nitrogen or/and 0.2 to 5wt.% one or more kinds of powdery metals selected from a group of aluminium, silicon, magnesium and calcium and their powdery alloys. The remainder part is a refractory material composed mainly of magnesia. |
