The homogeneous membrane surface condition and various physical properties of membrane were obtained by changing the composition of the coagulation bath which was used for the coagulation of chitin and its derivatives. The coagulation liquid consisted of water, ethylether, and metal salt as the weight ratio of 9 : 1 : 0.05-0.3. The metal salt was calcium carbonate or lithium carbonate. The derivatives of chitin were chitosan, ethylchitin, acetylchitin, butyrylchitin, and propionylchitin.
