PURPOSE:To realize stable focus control with a simple configuration. CONSTITUTION:An evaluated value is generated by adding the maximum values of the high area components of image data contained in a detected frame R, and a focus state is controlled corresponding to the evaluated value. At the center of the detected frame R, one weighted area R1 is formed and on the right and left sides, half weighted areas R2 are formed. The areas R2 are formed by providing them inside or outside the detected frame for each line, for example. When an image S1 of an object precisely moves between a position away from the detected frame R and a position inside the detected frame R near the outer peirpheral part of the detected frame R, since the outer peripheral part is half weighted, the influence caused by the fine movement upon the evaluated value can be reduced. |
