PURPOSE:To use condensing heat capacity of refrigerant only in the case of melting ice accretion, to improve defrosting capacity by increasing condensing area of the refrigerant and to shorten a defrosting time. CONSTITUTION:Refrigerant recovering means 12 for recovering refrigerant by fully closing an opening of a motor-driven expansion valve 5 in a heating cycle state when a defrost request signal is output is provided. In addition, heat storage operation means 13 for storing heat by stopping an indoor fan 6f when the request signal is output is provided. Further, end deciding means 14 for deciding end of refrigerant recovery by the means 12 and defrost executing means 15 for executing a defrosting operation are provided. The means 14 outputs an end signal when a present external heat exchanging temperature Tc is lowered to a predetermined temperature or lower, when the temperature Tc is lowered by a predetermined difference temperature or more from a reference external heat exchanging temperature Tc1 before the valve 5 is fully closed, when a present inner heat exchanging temperature Te is raised by a predetermined temperature or higher, or when a predetermined time is elapsed.
