Novel compounds of formula (I): X-L-Y, (II): X-(L-Y)n and (III): X-L-(Y)n wherein X is a uracil reductase inactivator or prodrug thereof, Y is 5-fluorouracil or a prodrug thereof, L is a linking group covalently linked to both X and Y and n is at least 2, the use of such compounds in medicine, in particular cancer chemotherapy, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds, and a process for the preparation of such compounds are disclosed.
