TRANSPORT DEVICE INCORPORATING THE BEDAN DRIVE SYSTEM USING HUMAN MUSCLE POWER

The proposed transport device which is set in motion by human muscle power comprises a chassis in the form of an inclined beam (1) at the front end of which is mounted a steering column (2) with the front wheel (4). At the rear end is mounted a driven shaft (6) with two rear wheels (7). Along the sides of the beam (1) are mounted drive arms (11) with platforms (14) for the rider's feet; each arm is secured at one end to a fixed spindle (12) so as to articulate about that spindle in a direction opposite to that of the other arm. The drive arms (11) are connected by a drive shaft (8) to which they are secured by a pair of crank mechanisms and which is kinematically linked to the driven shaft (6) by a chain.
