Device comprising two main sliding bars (10, 12) integral with a transverse bar (16) in contact with the end of the sliding bolt of the latch (lock) (32) opposite its end ensuring latching of a door (26). The main sliding bars, which slide in guides (18, 20, 22, 24) fixed to the door, have an end which engages in keepers (28, 30) fixed in the wall surrounding the door. The other end of each main sliding bar is extended by means of a pivot (44, 46) by a secondary sliding bar (40, 42) engaged permanently in a second keeper (48, 50) likewise fixed to the wall and provided with a spring (52) which tends to push back the secondary sliding bar and consequently the main sliding bar and to cause its end to penetrate into the first keeper when the latch is turned into the latching position. On opening the latch, the sliding bars are pushed back so that the end of each main sliding bar leaves the first keeper and so that the pivot becomes aligned with the hinge pins (36, 38) on the door, allowing the latter to open. <IMAGE>
