In a return duct 34 in a circulating fluidised reactor there is a bed composed of particles, via which particles from a particle separator 14 are re-circulated to a combustion chamber 12. From the particle bed inlet openings 50 lead to the combustion chamber. The height of the particle bed is kept at a level above the inlet openings and high enough above these for a gas lock to be formed. The particles in the bed are fluidised, and delivery nozzles 52, 54, 56, 58, 59 have been arranged on different levels, which deliver the particles from the bed via the inlet openings to the combustion chamber. It is possible to arrange heat exchangers 38, for example superheaters, in the bed, in order to recover heat from the particles. <IMAGE>
