This invention relates to a method of preparation of 1,2-dihydropyridine compounds having the structure: <IMAGE> which comprises reacting a compound having the structure: <IMAGE> The reaction is performed under suitable reaction conditions and in an appropriate solvent so as to form the 1,2-dihydropyridine compound. In a similar manner 1,2-dihydroquinolines, dihydroisoquinolines, dihydropyridones, dihydroquinolones and dihydroisoquinolones may also be prepared. The invention is also directed to compounds prepared by this method. |
