A novel triphenylamine derivative is useful as a charge-transporting material having high carrier mobility and has the formula (1): <CHEM> wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, and R<5> is each hydrogen, lower alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, or substituted or unsubstituted aryl; or R<1> and R<2> and/or R<3> and R<4> may be taken together to form a ring; and n represents 0 or 1. The derivative (I) may be used to form an electrophotographic photoreceptor by coating it onto a conductive support, optionally with a binder, to form a charge-transporting layer. A charge-generating material, e.g. a phthalocyanine or azo pigment, is coated as a separate layer or included in the same layer. |
