Clamping frame for heat forming thermo- - plastic resins

Clamping units each comprising a pair of clamp pivot rods moving clamping plates which grip half the width and half the length of a panel of thermoplastic sheet. A locking gear mechani m engages a gear on the longer pivot rod; pref. the opposite face of the sheet is gripped by sprung teeth. The clamp rods and a locking mechanism are on the frame which takes the sheet through the thermoforming station. Esp. for large sheets (> 1 m) or thick sheets (is approx. 5 mm.) where vacuum clamping is ineffective.
