A quick connect coupling (20) for securing a pair of air conditioning refrigerant lines (14, 16) to a system component (10) of an automotive air conditioning system is capable of being operated with one hand so as to allow both refrigerant lines (14, 16) to be simultaneously connected or disconnected from the system component (10). The coupling (20) includes a plate pivotable to radially engage the lines (14, 16) with apertures (38, 40), at least one of which having a restricted entry to pass over only a reduced diameter part of the line, distanced from the component (10). This constitutes a safety feature which prevents the refrigerant lines (14, 16) from being disengaged from the coupling (20) unless the coupling (20) is sufficiently loosened from the component (10) to allow the coupling 20 to be rotated out of engagement with one or both refrigerant lines (14, 16).
