The multiplication/division circuit in a galois field performs a multiplication and division through optimum usage of a random logic so as to minimize the usage of read-only memory (ROM), thereby applying the result of the circuit to a compact disk, compact disk-ROM, and digital audio tape (DAT) systems by using a circle in case of "m=8" in the galois field (2m), and applying it to other systems through changing the value of "m".
