The invention relates to a process and an arrangement for taking samples from a machine of printing technology, in which for the purpose of the inspection at least one printed product is removed at an output device of the machine. It is the object of the invention to reduce the subjective influences in the taking of a sample. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that, with the aid of an open-loop and closed-loop control device (9), as a function of pre-entered counter states for a first printed product (7) and for further printed products (7), signals are output for the taking of a sample. The arrangement according to the invention contains, apart from a counting device for the printed products (7) and apart from an open-loop and closed-loop control device (9) for a printing machine (1), an entry device (10) for counter states for the taking of a sample and an output device (15) for signals for the taking of a sample, the entry device and output device being in each case connected to the open-loop and closed-loop control device (9).
