A hay feeder for use in a stable has a frame 10 defining a rectangular opening, a hay net 14 being suspended from the four side members 11 of the frame. Member 11 on side 12 of the frame is hinged to a wall by two hinge elements 15 and 16, and a bar 13 connected to the hinged side member serves to limit downward hinging movement of the frame, from a generally horizontal filling position (fig 1). Once the hay net 14 has been filled with hay, it is hinged upwardly to lie against the stable wall, a catch 20 serving to hold the frame in its upwardly-hinged feeding position (fig 2).
