METHOD FOR DETECTING ROLLING LOAD OF MULTISTAGE ROLLING MILL HAVING MONO-BLOCK HOUSING

PURPOSE:To calculate the rolling load of a multistage rolling mill so as to improve the thickness accuracy and yield of a rolled material by detecting the strain of the rolled material at a position where the influence of the width variation of the rolled material can be eliminated. CONSTITUTION:The high-pressure rolling of such a hardly rolled material as special steel is made possible by holding a roll group composed of work rolls 4 and 5 which roll the material, first upper and lower intermediate rolls 6-9 which drive the rolls 4 and 5, and second upper and lower intermediate rolls 10-15 which are idle rolls by an integrated solid mono-block housing 1 through backing bearings 16-23 used as reinforcing rolls. At the time of rolling, strains are generated in the surface of the housing due to the rolling load on the rolls 4 and 5. The rolling load can be calculated when the strain or stress is detected at the optimum strain detecting position 3 where the rolling load can be calculated without any influence of the width variation of the special steel.
