A process for dewatering sludge particularly for dewatering sludge in sewage treatment plant by means of a filter presshaving belts one at least of which is a filter belt, the sludge being conveyed around a drum between belts both of which pass around the drum the sludge being squeezed between the belts as it is conveyed around the drum by the belts.
