<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel excellent in fuel consumption performance and capable of greatly reducing pollutants in exhaust gases by adding a specified alkylenoxy compound and a specified alkyl nitrate to gas oil for a diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:To 100 pts.wt. gas oil, 0.5-10 pts.wt. alkylenoxy compound of formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; and (n) is 1-10; and the difference between the total number of carbon atoms of R1 and R2 and (n) is 10 or greater) or formula II (wherein R3 and R4 are each H or a 2-20C hydrocarbon group; and (m) is 1-10; and the sum of the total number of carbon atoms of R3 and R4 and (m) is 5 or greater) and 0.05-1 pts.wt. alkyl nitrate of formula III (wherein R5 is a 4-10C alkyl) are added. Because these two components are insoluble in water and soluble in gas oil, the obtained fuel has such excellent performance that the effect is not lowered due to contamination with water, the alkyl nitrate combinedly used can reduce the fuel consumption, and the formation of NOx and particulates in the exhaust gases from a diesel engine can be reduced.</p> |
