Device including a threaded rod (shank) 4, a threaded bushing 26 and a threaded ring 25 all arranged so that the threaded ring 25, brought against the face of the threaded bushing 26 by the rotation of the threaded rod 4, is immobilised with respect to it in an annular position in which, pressed against the face of the bushing 26, the start of the thread on its face extends, in the direction of rotation of the rod 4, beyond the start of the thread on the face of the bushing so as to seal off the helical passage on the aforementioned face. Application to sealing between a rod and a threaded bushing especially of a piston compressing a liquid in a chamber. <IMAGE>
