PURPOSE:To display characters so that attributes set for a created document are reflected within a practical range without sacrificing the visibility or display speed. CONSTITUTION:When a character string is inputted from an input device 1 and stored in an input character buffer 23 or converted from KANA(Japanese syllabary) to KANJI(Chinese character) with a KANA-KANJI conversion key pressed to store conversion candidates in a conversion candidate buffer 24, the attribute of a character at a cursor position on the screen of a current display device 3 is read out of a document buffer 21 by a KANA-KANJI conversion display attribute operation part 13, and this attribute after being corrected on the basis of condition data in a condition setting buffer 26 is stored in a KANA-KANJI conversion display attribute buffer 25. When displaying the character string stored in the input character buffer 23 and the character string stored in the conversion candidate buffer 24 on a display 3, a display part 14 display them according to the attribute in the KANA-KANJI conversion display attribute buffer 25 to prevent the visibility of the display characters from deteriorating and the display operation from being delayed. |
