<p>Fatty acids, synthetic fatty acids, resinous naphthenic acids, or their mixtures are prepd. by treatment of aqs. solns. of the Na salts of these organic acids with a a mineral acid while heating. Before the treatment, an aqs. soln. (I) contnt. 0.1-2% mineral acid and 2-3% of its Na salt is prepd. in the reaction volume. The aqs. soln. of the Na salt of the organic acid is then introduced from below, while simultaneously introducing the mineral acid in counter-current to the salt solns. The introductions are effected at such a rate that the amount of mineral acid in the reaction medium is maintained at 0.1-2% and the treatment temp. is 85-95 degrees C. The process gives improved yield and purity of acids, with reduced consumption of mineral acid.</p> |
