Dimming device for lamps (luminaires), in particular standard and reading lamps

The object of our consideration was to create a dimming device for mobile (portable) standard and reading lamps which makes it possible to dim the lamp from any desired position (seated or standing) without having to bend down in the process. Hitherto, mobile lamps could be dimmed at a convenient height only when a rotating or sensor rod was passed out from the dimmer mounted in the base or when the dimmer was built in at this height. In this construction, however, the appearance of the lamp is adversely affected by the additional parts or by the installation volume of the dimmer. In addition, these additional parts require increased outlay in terms of production. In the case of the abovementioned invention, the dimmer (1) is seated in the floor base. The knob of the dimmer (2) is connected to a rotating part (4) by means of a belt (3). The lamp is mounted in this rotating part (4). When the lamp is rotated, a torque is transmitted by means of the belt (3) to the dimmer (1) and permits continuous dimming up and down. <IMAGE>
