Pressure-surge damper in liquid lines

A pressure-surge damper for reducing pressure surges in liquid lines has a damping body inserted into the liquid line and made of a material having elastomeric properties. In order to be able to fit a pressure-surge damper in a liquid line in a simple manner and avoid leakages, the damping body (15) is made of a micro-porous, closed-cell elastomeric material. The compressibility of the gas trapped in the elastomer foam is utilised. Apart from the material damping, the compressibility of the gas is available for the transformation of the pressure energy. <IMAGE>
