The double coding/decoding of the image signals in a video conference system (VS) having more than two partner stations (TS1, TS2, TS3) and a central conference unit (KE), in which one partner is displayed as a large image, and the other partners are displayed as small images, on the screens of the partner stations (TS1, TS2, TS3), result in reduced image quality and a great time delay from the transmission of the images in a partner station (TS1, TS2, TS3) until they are received in another partner station.
