An apparatus for objective quantitative assessment of human ocular coordination includes a first pair of transparent image filters (52, 54) (commonly as spectacles) which transmit different visual images, a projector (18, 20) to produce a pair of visual images; a viewing surface (8) on which the visual images are separately viewed by a patient; controls (56, 58) to allow the patient to move the images relative to each other; and scales (86) for quantitatively determining the spatial relationship between the visual images on the viewing surface which results from the movement by the patient. The apparatus may include a second pair of transparent image filters (22, 24) corresponding to the image transmitted by one respective filter of the first pair through which is projecting each of the pair of images onto the viewing surface. The filters may differ from each other in their ability to transmit colored light (such as complementary colors such as red and green light) or in their ability to transmit polarized light.
