Process is for purifying urban and industrial effluent waters and ground waters percolating from waste disposal sites, in which the water to be purified passes through several treatment stages in a purificn. plant, whereby the aq. suspension is filtered clear using a microfiltration treatment stage situated as close as possible to the input stages of the purificn. plant. Pref. before the microfiltration stage assistant agents such as adsorbents, molecular sieves, ion exchangers, pptn./flocculation agents, complex formers, adhesion substances, sieve materials, flotation agents, etc., are introduced into the water to eliminate or to convert unwanted materials. If necessary the retentate from the microfiltration may be fixed in cement, plaster, polymer or other suitable material such that toxic substances present can no longer leach out. USE/ADVANTAGE - Gives a considerable redn. in the number of process stages required for the water treatment, allows recycling of the clear filtered water e.g. for vehicle washing, street cleaning, cooling, watering of plants, etc., and gives smaller amts. of sludge for disposal. |
