PURPOSE:To surely detect knocking by a simple constitution, in a knocking detecting device for an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A signal from a knocking sensor 2 is allowed to pass through a gate 5 only between decision intervals set by an engine speed sensor 3 and by a decision interval setting means 4. In this way, a noise overlapped with the knocking signal is removed. In a calculating means 8, from a peak value VPN and detection time PCN of each waveform crest of the knocking signal in the decision interval, a maximum value of knocking signal envelope is estimated, to output this estimated peak value VP to a maximum value memory means 15. In the maximum value memory means, the larger value VP of estimated and detected peak values is output to a knocking decision means 16. In the knocking decision means, this value is compared with a preset value, to decide knocking generated. |
