The invention relates to a position transducer operating by means of electromagnetic radiation, comprising: a radiation source for transmitting electromagnetic radiation; an array of mutually corresponding pick-up segments located in one plane which are adapted to collect radiation transmitted by the radiation source, wherein the radiation source is movable parallel to the plane in relation to the array of pick-up segments; and a processing circuit connected to each of the pick-up segments, wherein the position transducer comprises at least three pick-up segments; the processing circuit is adapted to determine which of the at least three pick-up segments is most strongly influenced by the electromagnetic radiation coming from the radiation source; and the processing circuit is adapted to determine the position of the radiation source from the radiation intensity of the pick-up segments adjacent to the pick-up segment the most strongly influenced by the electromagnetic radiation coming from the radiation source. |
