Flammabweisender thermoplastischer Polyester

Flame retardant polyester compns. Compn. contg. a polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene sebacate) and, as flame-retardant, 0.4 to 4 wt.% (expressed as P, and w.r.t. polyester) of a polyarylphosphonate having a degree of polymerisation >=6 and derived from at least one phenol or naphthol of formulae I - IV: as diol component(s). (Y is methylene sulphonyl, or 2 - 6C (cyclo)alkylidene). The benzene rings may be substd. by one or more alkyls. The flame-retardant does not react with the polyester during processing so that there is no impairment of quality of the moulded article produced e.g. fibres.
